    I’ve noticed that comments are closed on all posts published from the iOS app. Comments are allowed from Settings/Discussion, and everything is fine when I publish from the desktop. I’m not seeing any comment settings in the app.

  • Hey @jasonhunterdesign – is the issue happening when you try to post an article on the site while logged-in to the WordPress iOS app via WordPress.com account or via WP Admin account?

    Also temporarily, could you please deactivate all plugin on the site (except Jetpack plugin, if you have installed it), and switch the site to default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-Five, and then try to publish the post again from the WordPress iOS app to check if the issue still persists?

    I’m logged in using the site’s WP admin account, not my WordPress.com login.

    The site is running the Twenty Twenty-Five theme with no plugins activated.

    Thanks for your patience while I looked into this! I wasn’t able to replicate the issue on my end, so I’d like to check a few things with you to narrow this down.

    1. Check if comments are enabled in the app:
      • Open the WordPress iOS app and go to My Site → Site Settings.
      • Scroll down and tap Discussion.
      • Make sure “Allow Comments” is toggled on.
      • Even though your WP Admin settings should apply, this will confirm whether the app is overriding them.
    2. Check your app version:
      • Go to Me → Help & Support in the WordPress iOS app.
      • The latest version is 25.7.1—if you’re using an older version, updating might help.

    If the issue persists, we need to investigate further and might need to know your site. Let us know if you are open to share it here, or if you want to continue privately.

    I can confirm that I am using v25.7.1 but when I go into Site Settings, not only do I not to scroll down, but Discussion is not an option for me to tap.

    Thank you for your patience while we looked into this further.

    It looks like the Jetpack plugin isn’t installed on your site, which is why the Jetpack Comments feature isn’t available in your app settings. As a result, comments are automatically closed when publishing posts from the mobile app.

    We’ve received feedback about this behavior and are tracking it in our public repository:

    While it has been discussed, no resolution or decisions have been made yet. That said, I’ve added your case as an upvote so the team is aware of your experience.

    In the meantime, the best solution is to install and activate the Jetpack plugin on your site. This will enable Jetpack Comments, ensuring comments remain open by default when publishing from the app.
