• Managing multiple WordPress sites separately can be a hassle—updating plugins, switching dashboards, and handling users for each site individually takes time. Wouldn’t it be easier if everything was in one place?

That’s where WordPress Multisite comes in, but setting it up isn’t always smooth. How do you properly configure it without breaking your site? What if some plugins don’t work across all sites? And what about performance—will multiple sites slow everything down?

Have you faced these challenges while trying to set up a multisite network?

  • Hi,

Following the documentation should give you a great start on proper configuration. Some plugins may not work or support multisite, so in this case, I usually go for a custom solution by developing it myself. There’s a probability that the multisite may slow down, but only if it’s not properly optimized and maintained periodically.

I worked on big scale multisite network that uses WooCommerce with unique requirements on payment system, extended coupon/voucher system that integrates rules engine and many many more features requested.

So far the common challenges we are facing is catering different request/modifications without affecting the entire network system. But yes, we can make the performance consistent throughout the network, by having regular maintenance cycles, optimizations, and a great hosting server.

    Hope this helps 🙂

    Thanks!
